The Weapon of the blood

“And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin: and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.” Exodus 12:22-23

There are many weapons of warfare in the world but none are as powerful as the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus is a mighty weapon of deliverance. Exodus 12 tells the story of the Passover, and we see the potency of the blood. God instructed Moses to kill a lamb without blemish and sprinkle its blood on the doorpost and over the house. The significance of the blood on the doorposts was threefold in nature. First, God required it. Second, it was for the safety of the people. And third, it gratified the Covenant.

“And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.”                                                                                                                         Exodus 12:13

  The Blood Attracts God’s Presence

First, God requires the blood. Every time the blood is called upon for assistance or protection, it always attracts the presence of God. If He sees it over your heart, your home, your family or your business, He says, “I will pass over you.”  God is not looking for perfect people. He is not looking for your good works. He is looking for the blood of His Son, and when He sees the blood, He says, “I will pass over you. I will not judge you. I will come to you and I will bless you” (Exodus 23:25; 12:13). He says, “I will blot out your sin” (Isaiah 44:22).

Second, the blood protected God’s people from the destroyer. The death angel was assigned to execute judgment against all the gods and all the firstborn of the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:12-13; 22-23). But when the death angel came and saw the blood on the doorposts of the children of Israel, he was instructed by God to pass over that home. No power of satan can function where the blood is.

Child of God, I can see God Himself executing His judgment on your behalf and restoring what has been lost to you today!

The third reason for the blood was to ratify the Covenant. All the Old Testament saints were ever conscious of the blood Covenant, and this, my friend, was the reason for their uncommon victories.

The blood Covenant is still in force today.  If God remembered the Covenant He made with Abraham hundreds of years before – a Covenant made in the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of an heifer, how much more will He remember and honor a Covenant made in the blood of Jesus! The Covenant made with the blood of animals was so powerful that it turned the prophets into supernatural beings. How much more will our Covenant, made with the blood of God’s Son, give us supernatural abilities? We will not only raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, heal the sick and bring in the greatest harvest of souls, but we will also turn the heavens upside down and usher in the greatest King that ever lived – the man Christ Jesus!
